Biblical Objectives to Carry Out the Mission of the Church

To carry on the ministry of Christ to the spiritual and life needs of people, the people of Hayes Barton Baptist Church will strive to:

  • Obey the command of our Lord to share the gospel in a world without borders.
  • Offer support and encouragement to people with life needs through a variety of avenues in the community.
  • Lead persons to believe and study the truth of God’s Word recorded in scripture and realized in Christ.
  • Provide excellence in the worship of God and in opportunities for spiritual growth.

To develop faithful disciples of the Lord, we will commit to:

  • Love, trust, follow, and exalt Christ as Head of the Church and Lord of Life.
  • Empower our members to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in witness, worship, and service.
  • Devote time, talents, processes, and resources to teach and develop disciples for Christ.
  • Lead members to develop selfless attitudes toward stewardship of their life resources.
  • Lead believers to place priority commitment on their responsibility to God through the church.

To equip believers to live as God’s people in the world, we are devoted to:

  • Proclaim the good news of reconciling grace through Jesus Christ, resurrected Son of God.
  • Lead members to discover, develop, and employ their spiritual gifts in leadership and ministry.
  • Represent Christ through practical expressions of selfless love in the church and community.

To inspire timeless values for a changing world, we will seek to:

  • Uphold classic Christian principles and practices of faith rooted in Baptist history.
  • Love as Christ loves, fostering hope and reconciliation in the world.
  • Reflect God’s love and glory to all persons, without prejudice of age, gender or race.
  • Foster unity of faith, fellowship, and commitment among members.
