Mrs. Kristen Muse came to Hayes Barton Baptist Church in February of 2003 after serving in Greensboro. Kristen received her Bachelor of Science degree from UNC-Greensboro in Elementary Education in 1998. After teaching for one year, she pursued her dream and earned a Master of Divinity from Campbell University in 2003.

Kristen has lived in a variety of places. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to New Jersey. When she was 5, she moved to North Carolina. She still remembers having her speech corrected for several years upon moving from New Jersey. She has lived throughout North Carolina; in Fayetteville, Asheville, Greensboro, and now Raleigh. She still has fond memories and friends in each place.

Kristen has brought her passion for ministering to preschoolers, children and their families to HBBC. Since Kristen has been at HBBC, she has worked hard to develop relationships with people. She especially wants to equip parents in their task of being the spiritual guide for their children. She also takes great delight in helping teachers have the tools that they need to lay foundations of faith for children of all ages.  Our annual Fall Festival, Parents’ Night Out, Vacation Bible School, and other activities allow children and parents to experience the joy of knowing Christ. Kristen has also served as a Regional Specialist for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. In this role, she has trained workers in the areas of preschool and children across the state.

Kristen also has a heart to reach out beyond HBBC. For several summers, she has helped lead a mission trip to Helena, AK. The group has included all ages and enjoys ministering to a wide variety of people in Helena.

Kristen is married to Rankin. Although opposites in many ways, their marriage has shown them how much their gifts work to complement each other. These days they spend much of their time with their son, Bradley Alexander, and daughter, Rylee Mackenzie.  Bradley was born in March 2005 and Rylee was born January 2007. Both are already making their mark in church life.

Kristen also enjoys scrapbooking when time permits.
