Kennedy Baptist Children's Home
Kinston, NC - July 5-9
We are partnering with the Baptist Children’s Home in Kinston during the week of July 5-9. This would be a great opportunity for families and individuals to be involved in a short-term mission trip that is close to home. There will be a variety of opportunities during the week. Opportunities to serve include painting, yard work, leading Bible Studies, interacting with the residents (ages 10-18), and much more. No matter what your primary focus will be all opportunities will include: loving students and adults, building relationships, and serving God as we become the hands and feet of Christ. View the Kinston Information and Registration form (below). Contact Kristen Muse for questions or further information at kristen@hbbc.net.

2010 Celtic Mission and Pilgrimage
Overtoun House and Iona – August 1-14
Join as we travel to Scotland to continue our work with Overtoun House. Located just outside Glasgow, Overtoun House is an “A” listed Scottish Baronial Building. The 46,000 square foot structure, built in 1862, provides space for the Christian Centre for Hope and Healing, a ministry led by missionaries Bob and Melissa Hill. Our group will work primarily on the construction of the women’s residential floor. The six en-suite rooms on this floor, three of which have been completed, will provide residential care for expectant teenage mothers with nowhere to go and short term care for mothers in crisis.
After our work is completed, we will journey to the Holy Isle of Iona for a season of prayer and spiritual renewal. One of the most beloved centers for spiritual pilgrimage in the world, Iona has been called a “thin place, where only a tissue paper separates the spiritual from the material.” During our sojourn we will worship with fellow pilgrims from around the world in the majestic Iona Abbey, walk the cobbled roads, view the ancient ruins and high crosses, and enjoy times of fellowship and solitude.
Space is limited to 23 participants. The cost of the trip is estimated at $2,000. A $100 non-refundable deposit was due on April 1, 2010. For more information please see the 2010 Celtic Mission and Pilgrimage links below:

Ledford Missions Fund Requests
If you would like to request funding for a missions project through the Ledford Missions Fund , please submit your proposal to the Ledford Fund Council. The Council evaluates the requests during the month of August each year and a recommendation for the distribution of funds will be made to the church at the September business meeting.
The Fund was established as a result of a gift by the late Hubert F. Ledford, a longtime stalwart member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church. To be considered for funding, a project must fit our church's definition of missions which is "...the deliberate and diligent effort of the congregation, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, to extend the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed to as many people as possible locally and throughout the world, both Christian and non-Christian."
Due to the lower than expected earnings on the Ledford Fund assets, the money available in 2010 for distribution in 2011 will be very limited.
Application forms can to picked up from Robert Lahr at the church office during normal business hours and the completed forms returned to him between the dates of June 15 and July 30. Application forms are also available by clicking the links below. For more information, you can contact Jerry Causey at 919-612-0797 or jcausey111@aol.com.
